Sinocism was hacked earlier today. My host took it offline, and unfortunately it looks like we have to redo everything. Of course I do not have all the most recent backups I thought I had…How do you say Murphy’s law in Chinese? Those daily auto-backup emails I have been getting but never checking? Turns out the backup plugin was shooting blanks.
Digicha.com also went down and may take a little longer to bring back up. Digicha was scheduled to move to the Stocktwits Blog Network this week, so depending on how long it takes to restore it on my original host I may just decide to wait for the new setup. The good news is that hosting with Stocktwits will mean much faster and more reliable servers, among many other benefits.
For those of you who subscribe to the daily emails, rest assured your email addresses was not compromised. The email service is hosted through Google Feedburner and they keep all the data. Your address never appears on the Sinocism or Digicha servers, and I do not have a local copy on my hard drive.
Again, I am sorry for the inconvenience and hope to be back to normal as soon as possible.
Thanks for sticking with Sinocism and Digicha.
