- A Newbie’s Guide to Publishing: Barry, Joe, & Scott Turow – Scott Turow, President of the Big Publishers Club (aka the Authors Guild) just blogged about the Department of Justice lawsuit against legacy publishing’s agency pricing model. I talked about how unfair agency pricing was to Amazon and to authors two years ago. I think I was pretty prescient about the future of ebooks, and of publishing, even if my numbers weren't nearly as optimistic as they could have been.
So now President Turow has written a call to arms, warning writers of the dangers of Amazon and the DoJ.

- Ex-DOJ spokesman defends leak probes – POLITICO.com – Writing in the Daily Beast Saturday, former DOJ Director of Public Affairs Matt Miller says critics are wrongly suggesting that all leakers are do-gooders trying to bring government malfeasance to light, when, in fact, more mundane personal or policy motives are often behind the leaks.
"The difference between a leaker and a whistle-blower is important," Miller writes. "Leaks of classified information can endanger American soldiers and intelligence officers and expose sensitive national-security programs to our enemies. Whistle-blowers expose violations of law, abuse of authority, or a substantial and specific threat to public health or safety."
