Free Lunch, Free Links

"Sinocism is the Presidential Daily Brief for China hands"- Evan Osnos, New Yorker Correspondent and National Book Award Winner

I am exploring charging for the daily roundup of curated links (China Readings) about China. Free is nice when someone is giving it to you, but not always so nice when you are doing almost all the giving. The occasional long-form posts will remain free, but the daily links would be distributed via email or twitter to subscribers only.

The price would be $30 a year, or less than $0.10 a day.

If you are willing to subscribe please let me know in the comments or via email to sinocismblog at gmail.com. If enough people are interested I will start the service; if not the value will be clear and I will likely just stop the daily links production, through the blog, Twitter and RSS.

Thanks for reading, hope you stay, and the longer-form posts will continue free no matter happens with the daily readings.

  1. I’m upset; you’re in the category of a great free lunch, but I’m not quite willing to pay for the service.
Hopefully you’ll stay with the free links. 🙁

  2. I check your posts on a daily basis; at 8.2 cents per day it sounds reasonable, but it appears you’ve only got two paying customers, including myself. Wonder if that will slake your thirst for compensation.
